Making Money in Government Auctions by Chris Chamberlain

To most people, these sales go practically unnoticed. The reason being is that most people have absolutely NO IDEA where to begin when trying to locate these deals. And that's GOOD NEWS for you!
The fact that most people aren't aware of these sales is an INCREDIBLE opportunity for you to capitalize. The simple truth is this. The US Government could really care less whether they get fair market value for these items or not...they just need to MOVE THEM NOW!
Now there are really two types of auctions that you can participate in. The first type are those that require you to go in-person to view and bid on the items. Many government auctions are like this. Yes, it's a pain to have to register and then travel to bid on items but trust me...IT IS WORTH IT. If you only do it once, you owe it to yourself to do this once. Most people won't travel to an auction and for this reason you can find some UNBELIEVABLE bargains. The good news is that there are a TON of government auctions online and more are coming on every year. Visit http://themoneyhacker.com for more or check out these links below:
The United States Treasury and the IRS are the first two places you should checkout - both have great auctions online. I visit each one almost daily... (For direct links to all these sites you can find a copy of this article at themoneyhacker.com)
Here are some of my other favorite sites:
General Services Administration : The GSA is a pretty good site for autos and other "miscellaneous" stuff. You won't find too much in the way of jewelry or electronics here but, in addition to vehicles, there are things from bankrupted businesses like printers, office chairs, medical equipment, gas grills, etc....you get the idea. I still recommend checking them out though, because for many of these items you'll be the only bidder. I know someone who bought a working firetruck from a Massachussets Fire Dept. for $5000 for a large ranch they owned.
GovSales.com : This is another good site for government auctions. This site has alot of vehicles - mostly Dodge and Chevys...most of them with no bids at all. This site has some great electronics...digital cameras for as low as $15. Definitely worth checking out.
US Marshall's Service : This site tends to have a lot of real estate for sale (at great prices). Also, you can see who you're getting this stuff from here....
USAGov.com : Great links to each states' auctions. It varies by state but there are definitely some interesting items available.
AAACloseouts.com : Hunting & Fishing merchandise only.
These sites should give you a good start into getting some great bargains online. For more good articles on government auctions and other wealth building secrets check out themoneyhacker.com
